Letter from the Editor

Every year brings new obstacles for everyone, and while those challenges may look different, we all share one thing in common: we're all one more year further from our youth. We all look back on our childhood, and when we do many things come to mind. For some, it might look like Scholastic book fairs and doodle bears. For others, it might look like walkmans and leg warmers. Either way, everyone feels the sense of sweet nostalgia when these memories resurface. In this new edition of Magnolia, take a glimpse into the past and witness the memories of the blissful moments at grandma’s house, the peaceful summer holidays at the beach, and the rage of heartbreak and unrequited love.

We would like to thank the Maryville community for the continuous support each academic year, and we would like to thank everyone who submitted pieces for this edition. We find joy in reviewing each and every submission, and it is clear that the Maryville community is loaded with creative minds who are eager to share their artistic efforts.

We would also like to thank everyone who made this years’ edition possible: Mark McCabe at Modern Litho Printing, Laurie Eisenbach for her incredible support, and our advisor, Dr. Germaine Murray, for her undeniable belief in Magnolia and what it stands for.

This publication would not be possible without the help from the editorial and graphic design teams. These students are extremely dedicated, hard-working, passionate, and creative, and their contributions to the publication are more than appreciated.

It has been a pleasure to serve as the Editor-in-Chief this year, and I hope that the Maryville community finds enjoyment in this year's publication. It is my pleasure to introduce Volume XX, In Our Youth.
